If you want every WooCommerce customer to end up with an account after they buy, without adding a registration step that scares people off at checkout, WooCommerce can do it natively. No plugin, no code. It is a handful of settings, and here is exactly which ones.
What this does
With these settings on, WooCommerce silently creates an account for each customer during checkout and emails them a username and password. The customer checks out as normal; the account appears behind the scenes. Good for repeat-purchase stores, order history and support.
The settings
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts & Privacy and set the following:
- Uncheck Allow customers to place orders without an account.
- Check Allow customers to create an account during checkout.
- Check When creating an account, automatically generate an account username.
- Check When creating an account, automatically generate an account password.
Save. From now on, checkout creates an account automatically and WooCommerce sends the welcome email with the login details.
One thing to decide first
Forcing account creation removes true guest checkout, and for some stores that adds just enough friction to cost you a sale. If conversion is the priority, consider leaving guest checkout on and only offering the account. If repeat business and order history matter more, auto-create is the right call. It is a business decision as much as a settings one, which is the kind of thing worth thinking through before you flip it.
